I'm working on a full post right now to explain the electronic side of the open baffle project - what amp I'm using and why, how to make a crossover to eliminate the high frequencies, and how to build a summing cable when running mono from a stereo source. Plus, I'll post measurement results and a listening test of how it all sounds.
